'Highly Appreciative' Of Tiananmen Square Murders?

People's Daily Reports Clark 'Highly Appreciative' Of Tiananmen Square Murderers

Libertarianz Leader and Coromandel Candidate Peter Cresswell demanded that the Prime Minister explain whether the outrageous comments in the Communist Chinese Government controlled paper "People's Daily" about improving defence relations with China are true.

The propaganda paper reported on 9 April: "Clark highly appreciated ties between New Zealand and China and between the two armies. She specially [sic] spoke of New Zealand's positive attitude toward developing its relations with the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), saying she hopes to see the two armies will increase their exchanges in education and training."

"It is absolutely outrageous that the Prime Minister and the rightly called 'Minister of Disarmament' Matt Robson spurn our defence relationships with our longest allies, the United States and Australia -- countries that sent men to fight and die to protect New Zealand from Japanese aggression in World War 2 -- to cosy up to an army that opened fire on protesting students. The anti-Americanism, and even anti-Australian, attitude of this government is astounding," he said.

"Wake up New Zealand! Is this what you want of your government?" asks Cresswell. "Are the values held by this socialist regime of ours so warped that our army should be training with the army of red China, a country that murders political dissidents; terrorises Nepalese, Taiwanese, and Tibetans; runs slave labour camps; rigidly controls all mass media; and controls women's fertility?"

"What 'extensive common interests'' might we have with this regime?" asks Cresswell. "Or do the Prime Minister's comments and her state visit to China demonstrate her preference for friendship with a communist regime rather than with our former allies?"

It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!
