The above image produced by the supercomputer model of global weather maintained by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Air Resources Laboratory shows long waited for rains coming to the drought affected North Western quarter of India in the first week of June..
The rain is shown in the coloured lines on the map with each line representing 1mm of rain over a 12 hour period. While the model is not usually considered accurate so far in the future it is considered useful for forecasting trends.
Over the last few days the model has consistently shown a persistent low forming roughly over Kashmir and rain heading in from the sea closer and closer towards the hardest drought affected areas.
The following series of links show the weather patterns over the Indian sub-continent over a four day period starting on Accension Sunday June 4th through to June 7th. At present the model is not forecasting beyond June 7.
