Scoop Images: Rains Come To Northern India

The above image from the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) weather super-computer shows a forecast of rain falling in the drought effected areas of North Western India tomorrow NZT.

Rain is shown in the coloured lines on the map with each line representing 1mm of rain over a 12 hour period.

At this range – over a three day period – the computer is a highly accurate forecaster of weather. Over longer periods the computer is considered less accurate. However in this instance weather maps published on Scoop last month have proved accurate in predicting the trend if not the detail.
