Auckland City to discuss impact of IA funding conditions

Auckland City Mayor Chris Fletcher welcomes this morning’s announcement by Infrastructure Auckland that it will contribute $45 million towards development of a transport interchange on the Britomart site.

This is a significant contribution towards the cost of the transport components of the project and I am now confident the scheme can go ahead, she said.

“I am pleased that Infrastructure Auckland recognises the importance of the project with this decision and that they endorse the design.”

The Mayor is also pleased that Infrastructure Auckland is offering the funds on the basis that the full underground pedestrian concourse need not be built at this stage.

“Our council will now carefully evaluate the impact of this grant and its conditions before we make a decision about how we move forward. I am confident that conditions put on the grant by Infrastructure Auckland can be met.”

The Mayor is preparing a report and recommendations for the Council to consider at its meeting on Thursday (August 9).
