PSA takes action against Auckland City Council
Last week the PSA initiated urgent legal action against Auckland City Council in response to the lack of consultation with staff over the recommendations of the Birch Report.
This resulted in urgent mediation on Thursday, March 21.
The issue was resolved to the extent that it has been agreed to put in place a consultation process specific to PSA members.
This was agreed to without prejudice to the Council’s position that they do not have to consult with staff at this point in time, or to the PSA’s position that consultation with staff is required at this time or earlier.
The case will continue as it is important to determine what consultation on management proposals means under the Employment Relations Act.
