Join in the Manukau’s Anniversary Day celebrations
Mayor Sir Barry Curtis is
encouraging Manukau residents to share in the celebrations
to mark Auckland’s Anniversary Day on Monday 26
January.
“There’s a number of events lined up in Manukau, such as the Bell Tea World Cup Showjumping at Brookby, but probably the most exciting will be the yacht races of the Auckland Anniversary Regatta.
“It will be a great spectacle and I encourage everyone to join in the spirit of this occasion as spectators.
“The Regatta is the region’s oldest sporting event. Many people think the racing only takes place on the Waitemata Harbour, but that’s not correct. The races are being held on the Manukau as well and there will be great views from all along Kiwi Esplanade and Ambury Farm Park. Ambury is also a beautiful location for a walk or a barbecue afterwards.
“Even if you are not attending any official events I encourage residents to get out and discover Manukau’s many beautiful free parks and beaches,” said Sir Barry.
