FOLLOW UP TO MEDIA RELEASES ON ARC RATES DEMAND LETTER

You may be interested in the following emails [amongst many - and dozens of similar phone calls] I have received on the ARC latest rates demand.

From Lucille.

As one of the people with a small mortgage, who received the ARC DEMAND letter dated 4 Feb but received 11 Feb, I have today telephoned my bank and been told that the intended action of the ARC is very legal and that there will also be a bank fee of between $50-60. This amount over the 24 year time period my mortage runs will accrue considerable interest so your email was very timely and reassuring that this action cannot be taken before November 04. What a bunch of bully boys! Can they be prosecuted for threatening behaviour, not allowing the required 7 days due to mailing and creating unnecessary fear and stress to people unable to pay?

From Dick

It is not unknown for Council to attempt bullying tactics, such as you mention in your latest news letter. The extortive nature of those threatening letters should be viewed seriously by your organisation, in circumstances such as you mention. There must be legitimate redress available?

ARC executive staff seem to believe that "Crown Immunity" applies to them. My information suggests that this is untrue. What does your local MP have to contribute, in regard to those latest developments?

From Rob

Thank you for your ongoing work in this area, it is very much appreciated by normal hardworking, not well off people like me, who are thoroughly sick of being ripped off by bullying (generally not short of a bob or two) bureaucrats/politicians
