Challenge Announces Petrol Price Drop

The continuing fall in oil prices and the improvement in the US$/NZ$ exchange rate mean that Challenge is able to lead the process of dropping petrol and diesel prices to motorists. This morning Challenge lowered its petrol and diesel prices by 6 cents per litre to reflect these changes.

“This is really good news for motorists” said Bob Constantine. “They’ve had to put up with some pretty high prices this year, and it is great to be able to pass something back as we get into the holiday season.” he said.

Challenge 91 octane and 96 octane petrol will now be selling at 113.9 cents and 118.9 cents at the Challenge company operated service stations around the North Island. Challenge diesel price will also be reduced by 6 cents per litre from this morning to 86.9 cents per litre. These price decreases are inclusive of GST.

Auckland petrol prices are already at these levels because of the aggressive price competition in this market. “Auckland motorists have been getting the benefit slightly ahead of time” Constantine said. “Now we’re delighted to be able to pass the same benefit onto the rest of the New Zealand motorists who support Challenge.”
