Dairy Industry Committed To Working With Govt.

Media Statement
Tuesday 23 January 2001 For Immediate Release

DAIRY INDUSTRY COMMITTED TO WORKING WITH GOVERNMENT

“The dairy industry is committed to ensuring we continue to provide the Government with high-quality information on the Merger Package,” John Roadley, Chairman-designate of Global Dairy Company, said today.

“The Merger Package is arguably the biggest single issue before the Government right now and we recognise that it will want to be fully informed before making decisions.

“For our part, the industry has done our homework. We know we have a robust case. We look forward to working with the Government to address the full range of questions in the public arena.”

Mr Roadley said the proposed joint industry-Government working party was a good idea and the industry looked forward to being involved.

“We welcome the Government’s commitment to work co-operatively, swiftly and openly with us on the issues. It is good for dairy farmers and for New Zealand that both the Government and the industry recognise that we should work alongside one another to ensure the merger delivers the maximum benefits to the country.”
