Retired Dairy Leaders Views Not New

DFNZ Chairman Charlie Pedersen today said that the anti-Global Co proposal put forward by Mark Masters and Malcolm Bailey would come as no surprise to any dairy farmer and would be seen as old news.

"Both Malcolm and Mark when in leadership positions within Federated Farmers were unable to convince dairy farmers to support their position. Now, more than ever, the majority of dairy farmers are convinced that fragmentation is not in the interests of the dairy industry," he said.

"It is sad to see these past leaders attempt to trade on their old position to gain momentum for their cause. Most farmers will see them as simply pawns of economic commentators such as Gareth Morgan and Tony Baldwin who have consistently demonstrated they do not understand the strength of competition the dairy industry faces internationally."

"This last minute attempt to scupper Global Co will fail and there will be a strong vote of support from farmers later this month."
