ASB Group Responds—More Power To The Community
In response to the impending power supply crisis ASB Group, which includes ASB BANK and Sovereign, is conserving as much energy as possible nationwide in order for there to be more power available to the wider community.
The 31 storey ASB
Bank Centre and the ASB Bank Computer Centre in Auckland
will from Monday run off diesel generators.
The 117 ASB
BANK branches throughout the country will also conserve
energy wherever possible including reducing lighting,
promotional signage and close monitoring of air conditioning
temperatures.
Locations throughout the country which have the potential to be self sufficient will use their back-up facilities to assist in the aversion of a national energy crisis
Barbara Chapman, ASB Bank Group General Manager of Marketing and Human Resources says this is a situation where ASB Group can and should do its part for the good of the community.
“We believe we can save sufficient energy to power around 1200 New Zealand households without compromising our customer service or security.
“The collective impact of nationwide organisations such as ASB Group conserving all possible power will have a considerable impact in averting a power crisis. Right now we are all in a position to act for the benefit of the communities we serve to ensure the available electricity resources can last as long as possible,” she says.
ASB BANK assures customers that the energy saving initiatives will have no impact on security at branches or on the Bank’s security systems.
ASB BANK has developed a detailed Business Continuity Plan for situations such as a nationwide power crisis and this plan will now be implemented.
