Images: The Perfect Ready To Pour Gin & Tonic

Media Release
15 February 2002

The perfect Gin & Tonic, ready to pour any-where has hit New Zealand shelves….

Taking the hassle out of preparing the perfect G&T, New Zealand Wines & Spirits has this week released a new Gordon’s Gin & Tonic format that is ready to pour and share with friends anytime, anywhere. The new Gordon’s G&T comes in a 750ml multi-serve bottle which is a new concept to the New Zealand market.

"The new formula was developed to satisfy New Zealand’s most discerning G&T drinker," says Gordon's brand manager, Victoria Fong. "Extensive research has resulted in a product that replicates the perfect home-pour G&T. The new formula has the distinct taste that is Gordon’s gin mixed with a classic tonic and at 8% is stronger than other premixed spirits which are generally aimed at a youth market," says Ms Fong.

The 750ml multi serve will retail at only $9.95, comparable with an average bottle of wine. For additional portability and convenience Gordon’s G&T will also be available in a 4 pack of 250ml single serve bottles, which will retail at $11.95.

The ‘ready to pour’ format, new to New Zealand, is set to challenge the strong wine market says Ms Fong, as it will allow the perfect G&T to become more convenient, portable and affordable. "The multi-serve makes it easier for consumers to share their favourite drink with friends."

There is currently no other multi-serve gin premix on the New Zealand market, this represents the development of a new category in the spirit market.

The new formula has been received extremely well by the trade and in particular the new ready to pour concept and contemporary, refreshing packaging has generated excitement among liquor outlets.

"The packaging of Gordon’s G&T has been designed in keeping with the values of the Gordon’s mother brand, but with a contemporary new look and feel to remind consumers how refreshing gin & tonic is" explains Ms Fong.
