“A long term sustainable plan is needed for Air New Zealand which recognises the airline’s strengths,” said Council of Trade Unions secretary Paul Goulter today.
“The plan must recognise the value of the Air New Zealand brand and the deeply committed workforce,” he said,
Paul Goulter said the poor results announced today left many unanswered questions about past governance and liability.
“But now it is time to move on,’ he said.
“It is vital that Air New Zealand management and the board do not respond to this result with short term cost cutting, but instead with a sustainable plan.”
Paul Goulter said the unions involved in Air New Zealand, co-ordinated by the CTU, will work with the company to develop this new direction.
“We are ready to work with management and the board,’ he said.
“But not at the expense of Air New Zealand workers.’
