Oxygen Wins Asia-Wide Export Contract

20 May 2002

International Paper (IP) has selected Oxygen Business Solutions to implement SAP enterprise software throughout four beverage packing businesses located in China, Korea, Taiwan and Japan, and in the IP Asia Head Office in Hong Kong.

Oxygen’s chief executive Jeremy Fleming says the contract with International Paper Asia (IP Asia) is part of a 45,000 seat rollout of SAP by International Paper worldwide.

He says this section of the global SAP rollout in Asia is a substantial contract involving a series of implementations completed over approximately the next two and a half years.

“The win is highly strategic for Oxygen”, says Fleming. “It’s our first major win outside New Zealand and Australia, and gives us a beach-head into Asia.”

He says that although Oxygen , as a subsidiary of Carter Holt Harvey (owned by International Paper), is a related company, the Asian contract was a major success for Oxygen.

“Our Asian implementation contract is the only part of the global rollout which is not being handled by International Paper’s internal IT resources. We were successful because we could demonstrate a unique mix of ‘real world’ industry knowledge and experience, combined with depth and breadth of SAP expertise.”

He says Oxygen currently has a team in Asia to begin the detailed assessment and planning exercise. This needs to be completed before the cost and timeline of the project can be estimated accurately.

The entire project – which spans four beverage packaging plants and head office – has been broken into two distinct phases. Phase one - detailed assessment and planning phase - is expected to have a duration of three months ending May 2002.

The second phase includes implementation of modules for Purchasing & Purchased Inventory, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit & Collections, Capital Project Management, Fixed Assets, General Ledger and Responsibility Reporting.

In addition to these financial modules, phase two includes Modified Product Costing, Modified Profitability Analysis and Modified Production Planning.
