PeopleSoft Flies Past Competition at Air NZ

PeopleSoft Flies Past Competition at Air New Zealand

PeopleSoft have announced an agreement with Air New Zealand (NZSE: AIR) to supply and implement a suite of enterprise application software.

After a successful scoping and design project, the agreement includes Financials, Human Resources Management, Payroll, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) solutions from the PeopleSoft 8 suite of products, to manage Air New Zealand’s office and mission-critical systems through finance, procurement, facilities and property management, project accounting, human capital management (HCM) and payroll.

Air New Zealand’s estimated investment in the “Connect Programme” will be $37 million over six years including software, hardware and all related resourcing costs.

The airline anticipates that savings of several million dollars a year can be realised from direct cost reductions, decommissioning of old systems and improved allocation of resources.

Managing Director and CEO of Air New Zealand, Ralph Norris, says the new technology will enable Air New Zealand to better monitor and control expenditure as well as improving access to key performance information.

“The reporting within PeopleSoft will support our strategic business initiatives and contribute to the successful management of the airline going forward.

“The PeopleSoft solution is a cost-effective investment for Air New Zealand and their products have a proven record in the service industry,” says Mr Norris.

David Webster, Managing Director PeopleSoft Australia and New Zealand, says that demonstrating PeopleSoft’s partnership approach was as critical to the success of the project.

“We put a great deal of effort into understanding Air New Zealand’s business issues and needs. This approach gave us an insight into their requirements and how to best meet them.

“The particular benefits of our solution include PeopleSoft’s Pure Internet Architecture™, which eliminates the need for a major hardware upgrade, and delivers a low cost infrastructure. Also the flexibility of our Financials solution will allow system changes in line with any future changes at Air New Zealand.”

PeopleSoft’s recognised leadership in enterprise applications made it the lowest risk implementation solution for Air New Zealand with proven reference sites and demonstrable ROI.

Business processes and reporting are integrated across all applications, facilitating organisational efficiency and effectiveness.

“PeopleSoft’s real-time reporting is integrated into all the systems and delivered to end users – helping customers, employees and suppliers work together collaboratively,” says Mr Webster.

PeopleSoft applications optimise interactions, manage real-time business processes, analyse business activities to anticipate opportunities, and reduce costs, adding up to more profitable relationships.

Detailed design is in progress with PeopleSoft Global Services, with Financials targeted to go live by mid 2003.
