Unique Tool For New Zealand Business Developed By Key Business Organisations

Four of the country’s most influential business organisations have joined forces to develop a unique and sophisticated resource for New Zealand businesses.

The group has today launched an extensive Internet site – www.biz-growth.co.nz – to provide businesses with a broad range of tools to help achieve growth and success. The website has been designed to provide information to start up businesses and to help existing businesses grow and succeed. Access to the site is free.

The four partners - the New Zealand Chambers of Commerce, Business New Zealand, Poutama Trust and Pacific Business Trust - represent in excess of 100,000 businesses in NZ.

Spokesman Michael Barnett says that, as far as the project team is aware, the website is the most sophisticated resource of its kind available to New Zealand business.

“It is unique because it is the result of leading business organisations pulling together their skills, knowledge and resources to create an effective and vital one-stop information source for businesses covering the entire country.”

The new website was launched today (Tuesday, September 30) at a function in Wellington attended by Government representatives and business leaders.

A key element of the site is 150 ‘how to’s’ that explore a multitude of topics which, among many others, include information on importing and exporting, employing staff and dealing with Government regulations as well as specific information on Pasifica business, women in business, Maori business and business on-line.

The directories’ icons give access to valuable lists of contacts ranging from Government departments and trade associations to on-line business organisations and training companies.

With just a couple of clicks, there’s extensive help on how to start a business and how to write a marketing plan and a business strategy. As well, site visitors can access valuable advice on matters such as how to raise venture capital, business mentoring, employment rights and obligations, creating a brand identity, customer relationships and increasing sales. Technology information includes how to do business online and how to build a website.

Mr Barnett says the site is an extraordinary resource designed to help businesses with almost very aspect of their operation.

“As a group, our organisations have vast knowledge and experience of New Zealand business. The site is a direct result of our desire to share that knowledge with the business community.

“We’ve listened to businesses and understand their issues. Both individually and collectively we represent an authoritative voice of business across New Zealand.”

Mr Barnett says the site is about recognising that when businesses can operate in an environment of best practice, their ability to operate with excellence is enhanced.
