Six work
stoppages ended in the March 2004 quarter, according to the
latest figures from Statistics New Zealand. All six were
complete strikes, involving a total of 624 employees and
resulting in an estimated loss of $195,000 in wages and
salaries.
Thirty-three work stoppages ended in the March
2004 year, compared with 40 in the March 2003 year. There
were no ongoing work stoppages in the March 2004
quarter.
