IPENZ supports Electricity Commission’s new initiative

The Electricity Commission’s latest initiative to allocate over $2 million for energy efficiency initiatives is an encouraging step forward for New Zealand, and supported by the Institution of Professional Engineers, IPENZ.

“IPENZ welcomes this pilot programme, and regards the development of partnerships with groups that have strong community links as a positive step. IPENZ has always felt the Commission’s engagement in demand-side issues is critical to the Commissions’ success,” said IPENZ Deputy Chief Executive, John Gardiner.

The closing date for expressions of interest is 17 November 2004. The Commission hopes to enter contracts for the design and implementation of the pilot programmes by late-December this year.
