Quicksilver Internet launches ADSL

Quicksilver Internet today launches the new Quickfire ADSL service, offering consumers a broadband internet connection from $29.95 per month with telephone line and direct dial tolls.

Quickfire is available in 256k, 1M and 2M speed plans.

Bundling telephone line and tolls means consumers now have a real choice in telecommunication providers. The bundled service removes the need for customers to pay a separate Telecom bill on top of their internet charges and offers significant cost savings. Consumers can also keep the same phone number.

Offering bundled phone line and tolls is a distinct advantage for Quicksilver, in a market which is moving towards ISPs as integrated telecommunications providers.

Quicksilver is among the first ISPs to offer the real 'UBS' ADSL service. Technical problems at Telecom have meant that initially an interim 'i-UBS' service has been delivered, preventing ISPs from fully managing their offerings.

With 1M and 2M ADSL speeds only available as a Telecom resale product until next year, some ISP's have chosen not to resell these plans because of tight margins.

"We're really pleased to offer consumers a competitive choice, regardless of what Telecom is able to provide", says managing director Matthew Hobbs. "Margins are tight on some of the ADSL plans we are reselling, but it is important to us that our customers are offered the full range, right up to 2M speeds, as soon as possible. Value for consumers is our main focus."
