Bank of New Zealand donates $100,000

Bank of New Zealand donates $100,000 to Asia tsunami appeal

Bank of New Zealand today announced it would donate $100,000 in aid of the victims of the Asian tsunami.

The donation will be made to the New Zealand Red Cross South Asia Tsunami Appeal today. The public can make donations to the appeal at any Bank of New Zealand branch throughout the country. Over $435,000 has so far been raised for the appeal at Bank of New Zealand branches.

Bank of New Zealand has also waived merchant fees for credit card donations to the Red Cross and Oxfam in December 2004 and January 2005. The estimated value of these fees is $40,000.

Bank of New Zealand’s parent company, National Australia Bank, has also donated $(AUD)1 million in cash in aid of the appeal effort in Australia.
