Wellington - Internationally renown artist Frederick Hundertwasser gifted 20 original art posters to Moriah College together with a book which he personally inscribed to the children. The gift arrived one year ago and poignantly, after the death of the artist. All of the framed works will be available for community groups to use. Teaching packs will also be available for educational purposes.

The art posters have been used to inspire the children, as was the artist’s wish and the children’s art is to go on display. As the natural environment for children’s art is often the family fridge, this concept will be used for the exhibition with 9 fridges as walls for the artwork in Wellington’s Civic Square!

* The opening of the Moriah College Hundertwasser Collection - 12 March at 7.30pm.

* Cool Art: The art work of the children of Moriah College inspired by Frederick Hundertwasser and displayed on fridges in Civic Square - Thursday 8 March 8.30am - 6pm.

Moriah College is the only public Jewish school in New Zealand, since it’s integration into the public school system several years ago. Moriah College was founded some 13 years ago to cater for children aged 5 - 12 years and followed the successful Moriah Kindergarten which operates out of the same building. It’s commitment to excellence, enrichment and enjoyment in education based on Jewish values, together with it’s central city location has been popular amoungst Jewish and non-Jewish families alike. The Principal of Moriah College Judith Hatton says, “This is a unique school that delivers the New Zealand curriculum whilst integrating Jewish values and culture.”
