BIG NEWS
ROCKS SMALL TOWN
There’s big news in the rock scene of
one of New Zealand’s small towns. Hard Rock Cafe, the
global entertainment company and original theme restaurant
chain, has today taken its first public step to open a
restaurant in Queenstown – the first in New Zealand.
Work behind the scenes will be made official this morning with Hard Rock Cafe’s traditional raising of their big guitar sign. The massive 4 metre long neon guitar will be hoisted by crane and attached to the side of Stratton House on Beach Street at 8.30am this morning. The street will be closed throughout the raising.
Weighing between 400 and 500kgs the guitar is modeled on a Gibson ES355, hollow-bodied double cutaway electric guitar.
The opening of Hard Rock Cafe Queenstown will mark the 30th anniversary year of this successful brand. Plans for the official opening party are being kept under tight wraps by Hard Rock Cafe organisers.
Trademark music memorabilia for the restaurant is currently being sourced and will include New Zealand rock treasures and local staff training is also well underway for the Queenstown restaurant with trainers from Hard Rock Cafe restaurants in the United States and London.
