'LORD OF THE RINGS' TICKETS ON SALE FOR QUICK OFF THE MARK MOVIE BUFFS

Thousands of lucky movie fans will be able to enjoy the first ever public screening of 'Lord of the Rings' in Hoyts cinemas around New Zealand at one minute past midnight on 20th December.

Fans hoping to purchase tickets to the first public showing of the highly acclaimed movie will have to be early birds however as tickets go on sale at 7.30am on Thursday, 15th November and demand is expected to be extremely high.

Karen Cafe, Marketing Manager, Hoyts says New Zealanders are eagerly awaiting the release of the film. "If the level of demand for Harry Potter tickets is anything to go by, we expect tickets for the first screening of 'Lord of the Rings' to be sold out extremely quickly," she says. "Many corporate groups have already booked cinemas for opening week screenings of this movie."

The movie opens worldwide on 20th December, with the Australasian premiere taking place at the Embassy cinema in Wellington.

Says Karen Cafe, "This is one of the most talked about films this year and the fact that it was filmed in New Zealand by a New Zealand director only adds to the excitement. It's a great opportunity to showcase the beauty of New Zealand to a worldwide audience. We at Hoyts are very proud to be able to offer this movie to our customers."

The film is directed and produced by New Zealander Peter Jackson and features an all star cast, including Elijah Wood, Liv Tyler, Christopher Lee and Cate Blanchett.

Tickets can be purchased from any Hoyts Cinemas at the box office, with some cinemas opening as early as 7.30am Thursday, 15th November to meet the anticipated demand.
