Vodafone Warriors Head West

Auckland, New Zealand, February 28, 2002 – The Vodafone Warriors head to Waitakere Stadium, West Auckland on Saturday 9 March for their final pre-season trial.

The Vodafone Warriors will play an Elite Invitation XIII coached by Gary Kemble, Elite Development Manager for the Rugby League Foundation. The invitation team was selected in consultation with Warriors Head Coach, Daniel Anderson.

Meanwhile, PJ Marsh remains the only injury concern for the Warriors. Marsh rolled an ankle in training four weeks ago. His recovery is proceeding to plan and he is still expected to be ready for the first game of the regular season.

Daniel Anderson said he would select his final trial team from all remaining players. “Logan Swann (shoulder), Motu Tony (leg), Ali Lauiti’iti (concussion) and Clinton Toopi (back) are all available for selection. Those four players will definitely play against the Invitation XIII,” said Anderson.

Warrior development recruits Daniel Floyd (Hibiscus Coast), Vincent Anderson (Mt Albert) and Karl Edmonson (Glenora) experienced Warrior game time against the Canterbury Bulls at Jade Stadium a fortnight ago. They join five other Warrior recruits in the Development XIII, so whilst coach Anderson will be primarily focused on his own team during the trial, he will also be casting a close eye over the form of the opposition.

The game kicks-off at 1.00pm and tickets are priced at only $2.00 per person.

ENDS.
