Educated Women Most Generous Kiwis

New Zealand women aged between 30 and 49 years are the most generous in the country, according to a survey conducted by CCF NZ recently.

The research, conducted to gain insight into the people most likely to become child sponsors, also revealed that people living in South Island rural communities are considerably more generous than their city dwelling counterparts.

More than 70% of CCF NZ’s existing child sponsors are well-educated, having University Entrance or higher tertiary qualifications. This particular research finding is reflected in CCF NZ’s new look campaign, which launches this week.

The campaign, which focuses on the needs of Indian children and families, takes a more colourful, positive and informative approach towards child sponsorship than in previous years.

“We’re aiming to provide potential sponsors with more information about how CCF NZ spends sponsor’s money overseas. Our new campaign shows the vivid contrast between a child who is sponsored by CCF and one who is not,” says Blair Dale, Communications Manager for CCF NZ.

“People want to see the results we achieve with their own eyes. So, we’re showing the amazing changes that can be made just by one person’s contributions of $1.20 per day.

A little six year old Indian girl features in the campaign as the new face of CCF NZ. Sold at one day of age for the equivalent of $1, the girl has become a CCF sponsored child.

Her new parents, who were unable to have children of their own, named the girl Asherani, which literally translates to ‘Queen of Hope’.

Asherani, and the hope she has through her sponsorship with CCF, is the part of the campaign which will focus on several key issues for India, including HIV and AIDS, health, education and women’s empowerment.

There are millions of children in India waiting to become sponsored. Call 0800 223 100 or visit www.ccf.org.nz to become a child sponsor.
