Supercomputer Weather: Easter Holiday Cyclone!


Cyclone Sose Hits Central NZ – Easter Saturday

The above image produced from the NOAA supercomputer medium range weather model today appears to confirm the Easter storm forecast published on Scoop last week (See… Supercomputer Weather: When The Rain Comes).

According to the images linked below Taranaki will receive the brunt of the storm – Tropical Cyclone Sose - with up to 100mm of rain forecast for the 24 hours starting on Good Friday.

The bleak weather is forecast by NOAA’s supercomputer to continue throughout the Easter break with remnants of the storm still over the North Island on Monday April 16th.

Click on the images below to view the path of the storm. The dates on the pictures are in US Time, NZ Time is approximately 17hours ahead of this. Each image shows rainfall in coloured lines over a 12hour period.
