Supercomputer Weather: Much Rain, But Where & Why?

Thursday’s Rain Arriving – According To NOAA

Depending on which Supercomputer weather model you look at, rain presently headed south over the country, may bring a few more precious millimetres of rain to the South Island’s parched East Coast. Or it might not. Meanwhile Auckland and most of the North Island are definitely sheduled to cop some more of the wet stuff.

The following links show the path of the rain storm presently over Northland over the country. The first set taken from the Medium Range Forecast Model are the ones farmers in the south are more likely to enjoy. The second set of maps come from the AVN, short range weather model.

Four days later, next Thursday, Vice President Dick Cheney is scheduled to deliver his administration’s views on the energy crisis, i.e. how the US plans to increase its fossil fuel consumption levels over the next 10 years, and lets just forget about global warming for now.

According to the NOAA supercomputer he will be delivering his report in the midst of an East Coast storm. Which brings us to the why?
