The death of Sir Peter Blake at the hands of unknown assailants comes as a deep shock.
However, to label these killers as pirates, bandits and opportunists as has been suggested flies in the face of all that has and is happening in the area of the Amazon, and the Brazilian Government and police should be looking much deeper than their initial comments suggest.
It strikes me as very strange that a group of supposedly 4 armed assailants board an unarmed vessel in the night and very clinically kill just one member of the crew.
The fact they are reported to have taken only a limited amount of equipment and possessions without, thankfully, killing the entire crew suggests to me this was a planned and specifically targeted killing by agents acting on behalf of other interests in the region.
This act requires very deep and all encompassing investigation not only by the Brazilian authorities but by an independent body as well.
