Should ACC Be Paying Me?
Get this one, after an assessment for my independence allowance a couple of years back, I rang my case manager and asked them to explain a couple of medical terms used in my report, naturally the case manager was unable to tell me what they stood for.
When I complained directly to them about my assessment which I was reviewing, I told them how I had checked up the AMA Guide as to how the assessment should have been carried out guess what was said next!
"Well now you know how it should be carried out you have to make sure it's carried out correctly next time".
I asked the case manager, do you know what the assessment involves, he said no, I said if you don't know what to expect during the assessment how does the claimant?
Hello I thought the assessor was trained and being paid to carry out the assessment as per legislation? and ACC expect me to tell the assessor how to do their job? it's not me being paid! I'm just the claimant!

Scoop and their team are doing a wonderful job of exposing what I believe to be one of the biggest cover-ups in NZ in a long time.
It is extremely easy to cover things up when the people concerned are seen to be second class citizens and out to " live a life of leisure' whilst 'ripping off the taxpayer".
Of course ACC has been doing their best by inflating that belief and trying to counteract the 'bad' publicity they are receiving.
They have released fraud figures and innuendo. They have been complaining to media that things are being sensationalised by tabloid press...... I'm sure that impressed the Star-Times and Ruth Dyson has told a select committee that the claims are simply ' not the reality'.
Gary Wilson claims not to know about problems... how can that be when there is a letter signed by him about a complaint?
I personally have a letter signed by Ruth Dyson in Jan. 2000 promising to look at the WCAP assessment and return it to its original intention which was as a rehabilitation tool. Yes it is the reality!
Work Capacity testing and the like are straight out exit procedures designed to get people off ACC's books. There will always be fraudsters but the numbers are comparatively small and not worthy of tarring all accident victims with the same brush.
The current culture of ACC towards its "stock" is abhorrent and needs to be stopped.
Unfortunately for ACC and ultimately the minister for ACC Ruth Dyson, the truth is being revealed by honest journalism.

Thank you for the support putting ACC claimants cases and behaviour before the country.
Unfortunately, I am a fisherman as well as an ACC claimant. It is one hell of a world I can assure you!
Did the country suffer from An Honesty,Courage and Integrity drain as well as a brain drain.
I know it suffers from a BRAWN drain ie.People who will roll up the sleeves and do something about it.
