WTO to watch free trade talks

THE proposed free trade agreement (FTA) between Australia and the US is to be closely monitored by the World Trade Organisation.

WTO director-general Supachai Panitchpakdi, in Sydney for an informal meeting of 25 world trade ministers, said today he had no trouble with bilateral trade agreements. News.com.au

WTO protests expected to continue today

Opponents of the World Trade Organisation have vowed to continue to defy and confront police during a meeting of trade ministers in Sydney today.

Thousands of protesters along with a large police presence are expected to converge on the Homebush Olympic site later this morning for the start of the informal talks. ABC News
