Whose Standards Is Iraq Being Tested By?

TODAY’S TOP SCOOPS

------------

Stateside: Columbia Space Shuttle Questions

- It doesn't take a rocket scientist to guess the question that leapt to mind when I was told the space shuttle had exploded over Texas: "With the Israeli on board?" The first image that came to mind, however, was quite different - giant mutant spiders roaming Texas like spindly-legged spacecraft from the cover of a '40s sci-fi paperback. See... Stateside With Rosalea: Does W get Wired? [1]

When the News Broke:

- Space Shuttle Explodes Above Texas - NASA declared an emergency in the early hours of Sunday morning New Zealand time after the space shuttle Columbia exploded over Texas. The Shuttle was on a descending heading toward Florida where it was scheduled to land at the Kennedy Space Station at 9:16am US-ESTime. See... US Space Shuttle Columbia Explodes Over Texas [1] MORE: - NZ PM Expresses Sympathy for Columbia Accident - Prime Minister Helen Clark has expressed her deep sympathy at the tragic loss of the space shuttle Columbia, which broke up today over the United States killing all seven on board. See... PM responds to Columbia disaster [2]

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzztttt! Scoop Letters to the Editor

- I am writing in response to the Sunday letter from Larry Birns of the Council on Hemispheric Affairs ("Compromised view on Venezuela?") regarding my column about the pro-Hugo Chavez bias in the American media ("Venezuela through a tilted lens?" See... Letter to the Editor: Criticism of columnist askew [1]

[1] - http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/stories/HL0302/S00011.htm

William River’s Pitt On The Race For The Stars

- It began, in truth, as a byproduct of both Nazi rocket ingenuity and as yet another field of battle in the Cold War. When the governments of the United States and the Soviet Union first set their eyes to the stars, they did not have dreams of exploration in their hearts. See... UQ Wire: Kiss the Sky [1]

[1] - http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/stories/HL0302/S00008.htm

UQ Wire: Connections To Al-Qaeda Closer To Home Than Iraq

- What level of proof will Colin Powell use when he tries to show links between Iraq and Al-Qaeda ? Because if you replace 'Iraq' with 'United States' in the following 5 statements, then they are already 'public knowledge'. See... UQ Wire: Whose Standards Is Iraq Being Tested By? [1]

[1] - http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/stories/HL0302/S00010.htm

American Coup: Electronic Voting Machines & Democracy

- Maybe Nebraska Republican Chuck Hagel honestly won two US Senate elections. Maybe it's true that the citizens of Georgia simply decided that incumbent Democratic Senator Max Cleland, a wildly popular war veteran who lost three limbs in Vietnam, was, as his successful Republican challenger suggested in his campaign ads, too unpatriotic to remain in the Senate. See... To Win An Election, Control The Voting Machines [1] . See also...Senator Hagel Admits Owning Voting Machine Company [2] and SCOOP: AMERICAN COUP FULL COVERAGE [3]

Jason Leopold- FERC: The Prosecution Authority That Doesn’t

- One of the most damning pieces of evidence in the federal government’s investigation into California’s energy crisis emerged Friday, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that energy firms took part in a year-long scheme to boost the price of electricity in the state by withholding much needed power from consumers. See... A Slap On the Wrist For Ripping Off California [1]

[1] - http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/stories/HL0302/S00007.htm

How Bush’s Army Secretary Made A Living [Killing]

See... SEC Should Probe Sale Of Army Secretary’s Mansion [1]

[1] - http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/stories/HL0302/S00003.htm

God’s Plan To Kill Iraqi Children Revealed

- Does God want us to kill innocent Iraqi children? Judging by the apparently unanimous approval in the Senate chamber from all those truth-immune political celebrities watching President Bush's most recent State of the Union address — all of whom are at least overtly religious churchgoers — the message is clear: He does. See... John Kaminski : A Rabid Flock Of Lying Killers [1] . See also at Buzzflash.com … Who Would Jesus Bomb? [2]
