Propulsion And Weapons Details Of HMS Marlborough

The British warship HMS Frigate Marlborough will be in Auckland from May 14 – 21. Scoop asked New Zealand Defence: “Hi Andrew, further to your media release, has the British Government detailed whether the Royal Navy Frigate HMS Marlborough is nuclear armed and or powered?”

NZ Defence has provided Scoop with the following details:

Propulsion: 4 x diesels, 52,300shp

Missiles: Harpoon SSM, Sea Wolf SAM

Guns: 1 x 4.5in, 2 x 30mm

Torpedoes: 4 x 324mm tubes

Helicopters: 1 x Sea Lynx.

VISIT TO AUCKLAND BY HMS MARLBOROUGH

HMS MARLBOROUGH will visit Auckland from 14-21 May 2003 inclusive and will berth at Princes Wharf, Auckland for the duration of her visit. HMNZS PHILOMEL is the designated host ship.
