Scoop Images: Ash Wednesday At The Cenotaph

A small group of worshippers marked Ash Wednesday today with the traditional marking of foreheads with ashes beside the Cenotaph outside Parliament. The service of the Ashes was led by Father Gerard Burns of St Anne's Catholic Parish, Newtown. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Christian season of Lent, a period of 40 days leading up to the celebrations of Holy Week and Easter Sunday.
