Genevieve Cora Fraser: Rantisi Remembered

Rantisi Remembered
Lost in Battle for Palestinian Victory*

By Genevieve Cora Fraser

Zionist destroy our lives
Because we fight
To put an end to tragedy
The multi-faceted suffering
Of the Palestinian people
Zionist continue
To destroy our lives for no reason
But that we demand our legitimate rights
If the suffering stops
We have achieved victory

We, the Palestinians
Have been engaged in a war
The Zionist have imposed on us
1948
They left their countries
To occupy ours
And imposed the war on themselves
By their crimes
They create suffering
Slaughtered thousands upon thousands
Aggressively
Unjustly
Exiled millions from their land
The exiled will return
To their land
To their cities
To their villages
Though they are imprisoned
They will be set free

I do not know
When I will die
But please remember
The enemy's might
Does not achieve victory
The unjust collapse
While appearing strong
The strong will
Of Palestinian youth
Is mightier
Than the Zionist soldier
Thousands of times stronger
The battle
Has never been about weapons
If it were so
The Zionist would have conquered
By destruction and terror

Win victory
By protecting the children from slaughter
Win victory
By executing plans
Force the enemy
To leave a piece of land
Without giving up our rights
Victory
Is exposing the evil
Face of Zionism to the world
Victory
Is regaining our stolen rights
Victory
Is putting an end
To the suffering
Of Palestine

- Based on a conversation with Abdel Aziz Rantisi one day before his assassination, as published in Bitter Lemons 19/04/2004.
