Sleeper Cells Awake And Their Name Is John Kerry!

So. There was a reason John Kerry's jawline made me think of a village in Transylvania - his grandfather changed the family name from Kohn to Kerry, and converted from the Jewish faith to Catholicism before leaving Eastern Europe for the United States in the early 1900s.

Silly me! With a name like that and a religion like that, I naturally thought the Kennedy-anointed presidential nominee was from an Irish background. And pardon me if I don't believe for a minute that he didn't know the facts of his grandfather's life until a year ago when the Boston Globe did a genealogy search.

The fact that Kerry and the Democratic party machine dissembled is far more important than the facts of his family background, but who can deny that his particular background isn't particularly relevant to world affairs today and the role he may potentially play in them?

When he says, "I'll never take America into war because I want to, only because I have to," hasn't an element of doubt been introduced that he may not be able to distinguish between "want" and "have" because of his personal background? How does that differ from being unable to distinguish between "want" and "have" because of having a personal score to settle or several financial empires to feed?

Well. Things could get very ugly from here on in. If the Bush campaign tries to leverage this into an advantage for them, the Kerry campaign will call them anti-Semitic. And it's a short spiral from there down to this election being a referendum on US policy on the Israeli-Palestinian question. The minute that happens, it's a very short spiral indeed to more terrorist attacks on US soil, martial law, and an overt (as opposed to the current covert) establishment of a military state.

Not that I want to scare the bejeezers out of you.
