Government strain taking its toll

Less than a year in, the Government is showing too many signs of strain, Acting National Leader Wyatt Creech said today.

“Helen Clark has already had one Minister resign, and she has sacked another.

“A general malaise has overcome the Government far sooner than anyone expected.

“And Helen Clark has made a new problem for herself.

“She sacked Dover Samuels for something he was accused of doing years before he was even a Minister with no right of return. Yet she has left the door open for Ruth Dyson to return as a Minister after blatantly unacceptable behaviour while she was a Minister.

“People expected the Government to do something for the real problems people face. Instead it’s just lurching from problem to problem of its own making.

“People are waiting for the Government to get on with the job – but they’ve had yet another setback,” Mr Creech said.
