Govt. treading on dangerous ground over Race Relations Office

The Government is treading on dangerous ground with its proposal to scrap the Race Relations Office, National Ethnic Affairs spokesperson Pansy Wong said today.

“A lot of work has gone into building constructive relationships with the Race Relations Office and the various ethnic communities across the country.

“The work must continue.

“The Race Relations Office plays an important role in promoting harmonious race relations and understanding of other cultures.

“Scrapping the Race Relations Office sends a worrying signal to ethnic communities that the race relations problems they face are not significant .”
