Tranz Rail must schedule extra sailings to make certain families don’t miss out on their travel bookings in the wake of TopCat’s closure, National Transport spokesperson Roger Sowry said today.

“A lot of people have bookings to travel on the TopCat during the Christmas Holidays and in the coming weeks and weekends.

“It’s a major blow that TopCat has pulled the plug. The competition between TopCat and Tranz Rail has seen services improve, prices drop and more choice.

“I urge Tranz Rail to put on extra sailings as part of providing good customer service.

“TopCat must also give an assurance that people who have made bookings and paid will either get their money back, or they will do a deal with Tranz Rail to get them rebooked.”
