Judith Tizard's surprising admission in Parliament today that she was not even aware of Transit New Zealand's proposal to complete the motorway network by 2010 must alarm every motorist in Auckland, National's Wayne Mapp said today.
"How on earth can anyone have confidence that this government has a plan to solve Auckland's transport woes when one of the key ministers is so ignorant of one of the fundamental issues in her portfolio. Every survey has shown that Aucklanders are desperate for the motorway network to be completed.
"It is time the Minister got out of Wellington and started talking to Aucklanders. They will soon tell her what the issues she is responsible for are. However all evidence so far would indicate that this is a vain hope," Dr Mapp said.
