Bunkle Cleared
Customs Minister Phillida Bunkle feels vindicated that a Parliamentary Service report on her claims and entitlements clears her of any suggestion that she wrongfully claimed an accommodation allowance, but she's not surprised.
"The rules are designed to ensure that MPs do not have to give up their family home in order to work at Parliament, even though many of us have to spend a lot of time away from home at our Parliamentary jobs.
"I always believed that I acted within the sprit and the letter of the rules. I informed Parliamentary Service about everything. I always tried to check that what I was doing was appropriate and I followed the advice I received," Phillida Bunkle said.
