Locke Gives Blindfold And Earmuffs To Mallard

This morning Green MP Keith Locke donated a pair earmuffs and a blindfold to Trevor Mallard to help him avoid watching the Fiji sevens play on the weekend.

Mr Mallard has said he will be at the sevens tournament, but will take a break when the Fiji team plays.

"By using my recycled blindfold and earmuffs, Trevor won't be forced to leave his seat," said Mr Locke. "He will hear no evil and see no evil.

"I'm glad a new use has been found for the earmuffs, which I used in the meat works, and the blindfold, which was a sleep aid on an international flight."

The Green MP has also had a t-shirt printed up specially for Mr Mallard, reading 'Boycott Fiji Sport'.

"But if he wants to wear that he will have to come outside the Stadium and join us on the protest this Saturday," said Mr Locke.

"I live in hope that Trevor see how wrong it was for the government to allow the sevens, Fiji's premier sports team, into the country."

Keith Locke MP: (04) 470 6710 or 025 528 353 Gina Dempster, press secretary: (04) 470 6723 or 021 1265 289
