Minister takes sick leave

Cabinet Minister and MP for Taupo Mark Burton has taken ten days sick leave.

Since mid-March, Mark Burton has been treated for septicaemia (blood poisoning).

He returned to full duties in late March but his recovery has not proceeded as well as hoped.

During Mark Burton's leave, acting Minister's have been appointed.

Acting Defence Minister: Phil Goff

Acting Veterans' Affairs Minister: Steve Maharey

Acting Tourism Minister: Parekura Horomia

Acting SOE Minister: Trevor Mallard


Mark Burton hopes to resume his ministerial duties after Easter.
