Immigration Flood No Solution To Our Woes

“The Government’s announcement that our doors are open to a flood of immigrants is bad news for New Zealanders already reeling from a crumbling infrastructure and social dislocation” New Zealand First leader Winston Peters said today.

“Auckland, which will inevitably get most of the new immigrants, has a transport system gridlock and huge infrastructural pressures already.

“Our skilled young people continue to be one of our major exports.

“We’re insisting upon taking a boat load of Afghani queue jumpers to help out the Aussies who are in turn boycotting our airline and our products.

“We annually make billions of dollars of welfare payments including large sums to new immigrants who often come from poorer countries and fail to enter our economy.

“Our hospitals are under-funded and our women are being told to have their breasts removed because they cannot be treated in timely fashion. Our state assets have all been hocked off and now we’re paying the private owners to keep them going.

“But don’t worry: Helen and her team is here and has a solution: we’re going to open our doors and invite 50,000 new permanent migrants each year, and grant 150,000 residency permits over the next three years: about 5 times Australia’s equivalent per capita intake.

“We’ve said it before and we say it again: immigration MUST NOT be used as excuse not to train (and retain) our own people. This regurgitation of tried and failed immigration policies is certain to match the disastrous outcomes of the equally misguided policy on state asset sales,” concluded Mr Peters.
