The ACT Party has held a successful three-day caucus retreat in Hamilton, leader Richard Prebble says.
"ACT has reviewed the political scene after the events of September 11, the election of Bill English as National Party leader and the government's handling of issues such as Air New Zealand, defence, the superannuation fund and the GE debate," Mr Prebble said.
"While we understand the reasons why Bill English is taking National into the middle ground, this opens up opportunities for ACT. ACT is now the voters' insurance that National can't just become a tweedle-dum party to Labour.
"It appears to ACT that the coalition have no clear vision or coherent policy and are just dithering, waiting for polling to tell them what to do.
"ACT is encouraged by the election of decisive local body candidates who are pro free enterprise, such as John Banks.
"Our party organisation and membership are in good shape and we expect to once again to run the most effective campaign at the next election.
"ACT has a clear brand, well thought-through policies such as low tax, and top-quality candidates," Mr Prebble said.
