Boundaries: Cunliffe to offer in New Lynn

David Cunliffe, MP for Titirangi today announced his intention to run as the Labour candidate in New Lynn.

“Following meetings of the Titirangi Labour Electorate Committee and with Hon Phil Goff, MP for Mt Roskill, I have decided to offer for candidacy in the new seat of New Lynn”, David Cunliffe MP for Titirangi said today.

Draft electorate boundaries just announced indicated major changes to the current Titirangi Labour Electorate. While 40 per cent of the current Titirangi seat will move into the new seat of Waitakere, 50 per cent of the population will move to New Lynn.

“The Titirangi LEC, which will make up the majority of the New Lynn organisation, has unanimously endorsed my offering in New Lynn”, David Cunliffe said.

“This provides maximum continuity for the local party organisation and for local constituents. Our current electorate office will be in the New Lynn seat so constituent services will not be disrupted”, David Cunliffe said.

“If selected I will be working hard to get to know new areas of New Windsor, Blockhouse Bay and Lynfield while offering maximum support to a new Labour candidate to be selected for Waitakere”, David Cunliffe said.

“I would like to thank our local organisation for the confidence they have shown in me and to Hon Phil Goff for his cooperation in ensuring a smooth transition”, David Cunliffe said.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed being the MP for Titirangi and will maintain the close links with all parts of the current electorate” he said.
