No Ultimatum Over Future - Shipley

Suggestions I have said "promote me or I'll go" are sheer nonsense, says Jenny Shipley.

"A suggestion that I have issued, or intend to issue, an ultimatum to either the Leader or the Party are also wrong," Jenny Shipley said today.

"I have a choice to make as to whether I remain in politics or whether I seek a challenge elsewhere, beyond next year. I have made it clear I intend to weigh up my options over the summer period.

"I intend to consider whether I have the enthusiasm to continue making a contribution to politics and whether my contribution is valued in terms of my capability and experience. This is both a judgement and a choice for myself and myself alone.

"I did not come into politics to be a passenger. I have always sought to make a difference. I will make an announcement prior to the House reconvening as to whether or not I will remain in politics beyond the 2002 election," Mrs Shipley said.
