Wednesday, 6 March 2002, 8:51 am Press Release: ACT New Zealand
Turning down asylum seekers without ensuring they leave New
Zealand is pointless, ACT Immigration spokesman MP Penny
Webster said today.
"These people are desperate to
enter our country. The Government is being wilfully
negligent in not sending failed asylum seekers home.
"It should not be up to doctors, employers or neighbours to
`dob in a foreigner'. The Government must do its job.
If you don't get refugee status, you should be sent home.
It's as simple as that," Mrs Webster said.
