National Re-Introduced School Zoning

“National Re-Introduced School Zoning”, Points Out New Zealand First

New Zealand First education spokesperson Brian Donnelly pointed out today that it is ludicrous for Bill English to be claiming that school zoning is a disaster when it was his own party which reintroduced it.

School zoning was reintroduced through legislation passed on 8th December, 1998. that legislation required schools in danger of overcrowding to establish a geographical zone. Children living in a school’s zone had the right to enrolment at that school.

“It is a nonsense for Bill English to now claim that National would scrap zoning when they reintroduced it in order to fix up the mess that Lockwood Smith had created by scrapping it in the first place.”

“It is clear that National’s new leader hasn’t a clue about National’s see-saw position on this issue. He should be embarrassed by his ignorance,” said Mr Donnelly.
