MAF To Front Up On Painted Apple Moth Today
MAF and the Ministry of Health will today brief the Primary Production Select Committee on the controversial programme to eradicate the painted apple moth in West Auckland with an aerial spraying programme.
The briefing, which was instigated by Green Biosecurity spokesperson Ian Ewen-Street, will be held in Select Committee room G10, starting at 11.30am.
"This briefing is the first time that MAF have been called on to explain to parliament their handling of what was originally a small biosecurity incursion which has become a serious infestation and a public health issue," said Mr Ewen-Street.
"I am really keen to learn what went wrong in this case so that it doesn't happen again."
