Robson Engages In 'Worst Sort Of Politics'
ACT Leader Richard Prebble said today he was very disturbed to read a press release from the Disarmament Minister Matt Robson attacking ACT's stance of rejoining ANZUS by saying that this would pull New Zealand out of `coalitions' that this Government has created with Egypt, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Ireland and Sweden.
"When were Parliament and the country consulted on a Labour and Alliance policy of replacing our traditional ally the United States with Egypt?
"Who in New Zealand, apart from Matt Robson, believes if New Zealand is attacked, that Egypt, Brazil, Mexico, or any of those other countries will come to our aid?
"Mr Robson is engaged in the worst sort of politics. Neither Australia, nor the United States, have any proposal to bring nuclear weapons to New Zealand - and he knows it.
"As the Alliance demonstrated over Afghanistan, their policy isn't anti-nuclear weapons, it is anti-American," Richard Prebble said.
